Need to copy text from a screenshot, scan, receipt, or photo of a document? Optical Character Recognition (OCR) extracts editable text from images. This image-to-text tool uses Tesseract.js locally in your browser, nothing is sent to a cloud OCR API.
Students digitize lecture slides, shoppers copy serial numbers from packaging, and office workers pull text from PDF screenshots without retyping. Choose a document language (English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese) for better accuracy.
For best results, crop tightly to the text area with the Image Cropper first, or compress large camera photos with the Image Compressor to speed up processing.
Quick tips
- Higher-contrast images (dark text, light background) OCR best.
- Crop out headers, icons, and borders that aren't part of the text.
- Proofread output. OCR can misread stylized fonts or handwriting.
